Chelsea and Arsenal both enjoyed comfortable victories in their opening Champions League group matches. Chelsea beat MSK Zilina 4-1 in Slovakia while Arsenal thrashed Braga 6-0 at Emirates Stadium. Michael Essien fired the Barclays Premier League champions in front on 13 minutes after Yossi Benayoun put Nicolas Anelka away down the left. His pull-back fell for Essien to steer into the bottom left corner from around the penalty spot, sending the keeper the wrong way.
